Logline THE RECENT PAST is a fantastical drama of an imaginative girl who fears of losing her loved ones.

Synopsis The Recent Past is about Kaylee, an imaginative artist, who is unaware of the impermanence of life due to her sheltered upbringing, whereby she is very much loved and cared for by her parents since young. It doesn’t occur to her that they too, would leave. After they left, Kaylee is overcome by grief and loses all direction until she meets Keith, who eventually become someone very important. Since then, Kaylee’s life changes and she finally realises that the flow of life does not always have to come to a halt. Themes Time Parallelism, Memories and Kinship.

Kaylee, 9 (Protagonist)
1. An only child, she lives a sheltered and loved life.
2. Lives in the moment, carefree, with no worries about the world (i.e. fragility of life).
3. Loves to fold origami with mother and fly kites with her father.

Kaylee, 26 (Protagonist)
1. Kaylee is all grown up and works as an artist.
2. Feels vulnerable to the potential of individuals leaving her all alone.
3. Still loves to fly kites, fold Origami and paint.
4. Her perception on life and relationships change after meeting Keith and having a child.

Dave, 40 (Father)
1. University Professor who advocates passion for learning.
2. Provider and protector of the family.
3. Loves spending time, often flies kite with Kaylee.
4. Loves his family; family-oriented.

Pat, 38 (Mother)
1. Stay-at-home Mom.
2. Shares a nurturing relationship with Kaylee.
3. Bonds with daughter through Origami.
4. Origami rose becomes an heirloom for Kaylee.
5. Loves her family; family-oriented.

Keith, 28 (Husband)
1. Cheery and happy-go-lucky.
2. Extroverted.
3. Brings Kaylee out of her depressive stupor.
4. Has a child with her, Jayden.

Jayden, 9 (Son)
1. A reflection of Kaylee when she is younger.
2. Inherits the Origami from Kaylee.

Low Pay: Pay is negotiable if reasonable.

Actors with family members that fit the description would be preferable.

CAUCASIAN/EURASIANS (Chinese mix) preferred.

Filming period: 4 JANUARY 2016- 10 JANUARY 2016.

Film is going to be made with the intention to go international through submissions to festivals.

Actors who are interested in international exposure among other reasons are highly encouraged to participate in the casting.
