O’level Drama Student January 2015 - November 2016
Being in the Drama Elective Programme (DEP) in CHIJ Secondary as an O’ Level subject taught me a range of skills and values. I believe the most important was the ability to focus. Even during drama lessons in lower secondary, I was having trouble simply keeping a straight face during practices and would often burst out laughing or show panic at the slightest things. As I underwent lessons in DEP, I made a conscious effort to focus on getting into character so that external conditions would not affect me. The determination and hard work that I have sworn by for years paid off when I successfully pulled off a comedy solo piece during my O’Level assessment as well as the annual Drama Night in 2016, eventually receiving an A2 grade for the national examinations.
Literature Night Performer February 2018
Having to perform a solo piece for Literature Night 2018 in Serangoon Junior College required a lot of self-discipline and resilience as it is up to the individual to practice regularly and improve on their work each time. I also had to learn to step out of my comfort zone through this production. Through the various setbacks and challenges that came along the way during my journey, I learned the true meaning of "the show must go on" and overcame these barriers. This made me a more determined and resilient person.
Talent for Career Education Video by Areus Consulting for SMU April 2019
In this project, I played the role of an overeager interviewee as well as a professional one. I was selected through an audition process where I sent a self-shot introduction as and went for a physical interview. This experience was valuable as it taught me the workings of a legitimate, albeit small, video project. I learned how to present myself on camera as performing on a stage is not the same as doing so on camera.
